Breast Implant Sizes Fort Worth

Woman's upper chest with large breasts and black braOne of the most commonly performed procedures at Tarrant Plastic Surgery, serving patients in Fort Worth, Keller and Southlake, is a breast augmentation.  Patients use terms like breast implants, breast enhancement, breast job, and boob job when they are seeking an augmentation.  No matter what you call the operation, a breast augmentation must be a carefully designed and crafted procedure.  When considering a breast augmentation, the process of picking the right implant can seem like a daunting one.   Perspective patients are reading and hearing information from other surgeons, patients, and of course the internet.  While we at Tarrant Plastic Surgery understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, breast augmentation is a medical procedure with risks and maintenance.  In our hands, a well designed breast augmentation has beauty, safety, comfort, and durability.  To achieve this end, Dr Rumalla uses a process called bio-dimensional analysis during your consultation.

What to Expect During a Consultation

The first component of any discussion on breast implant sizes for our Fort Worth patients begins at Tarrant Plastic Surgery with a comprehensive review of your health and breast history.  Factors such as your age and a personal or family history of breast cancer can greatly affect the choices.  You may require more extensive pre-operative evaluations including mammograms to medical clearance from your primary care doctor if you have significant medical conditions.

After reviewing your health, Dr Rumalla and staff will chronicle your breast history in terms of cup size including changes in breast size that have accompanied pregnancy, weight gain, or weight loss.  A few words of importance, cup sizes are not standardized and unfortunately cup size change from brand to brand and sometimes within different styles in the same brand.  We prefer to discuss sizing in terms of more finite measurements like volume, width, and projection.

The next step is recording a series of measurements which will characterize the dimensions of your chest, tissue amount and position of the breast, and tissue laxity.  Dr Rumalla then will discuss these measurements with you and explain their significance.  If he feels you need a lift, he will often tell you at this time.  Critical to breast implant selection is that there is adequate space and tissue coverage to support the size and weight of the implant.  Dr Rumalla places nearly 99 % of implants under the muscle and while doing so, a simple rule must be observed:  The implant width cannot exceed the width of the breast.   Secondly, the implant’s projection (how much it stands out from the chest) cannot exceed the breast tissue’s stretch.

When considering a breast augmentation, it is important to realize that implants come in different volumes, shapes, sizes, and texture in both silicone and saline models.  Please find our other resources on silicone versus saline implants on the website.  The following example illustrates the concept of bio-dimensional analysis.

Personalized Enhancement

Patient Jane Doe is 32 years old and is otherwise in good health and presents to discuss breast enhancement.  She denies any personal or family history of breast cancer and on exam there are no palpable masses and thus no additional mammography is required.  She has two children and is done having more.  She was a 34 A before pregnancy and became a 34 full C with pregnancy.  She is now a 34 small B and desires being “full, but not big; maybe a full C”.  On exam, her critical measurements demonstrate she has a 13 cm breast width and she has ample stretch to her breast tissue envelop given her prior breast size increase with pregnancy.  She desires round silicone implants for their natural feel characteristics and decreased risk of rippling and visibility.  She has also opted for the Mentor Memory Gel line of implants for her breast enhancement.

There are four implants projections in the implant line: moderate, moderate plus, high, and ultrahigh profile devices each with similar widths but increasing volume and projection.  In fact a moderate profile implant in this width range is as little as 250 cc and an ultrahigh profile implant could be in the 430 cc range.

During your consultation at Tarrant Plastic Surgery, the next step will involve you trying on the implant sizers that fit your dimensions and are in the range of your size request.  By trying on breast implant sizers, you are able to get a better look and feel of potential final results.  At Tarrant Plastic Surgery, Dr Rumalla has one simple philosophy, he will not present or offer breast implant sizes to his Fort Worth area patients which he feels will not fit your dimensions or that he feels will have a significant likelihood of a poor result.  This philosophy is focused on breast aesthetics, patient safety, minimizing complications, and providing a lasting durable result.

After breast augmentation sizing process, Dr Rumalla’s staff will have the opportunity to discuss the costs of the procedure.   At Tarrant Plastic Surgery we believe plastic surgery should not only be for the wealthy but for all those who seek to improve themselves.  To this end we have priced most of our services so that many of you can seriously consider plastic surgery.   A Breast augmentation with saline implants including surgeon’s fees, anesthesia, and facility starts at under $4200 in total.
