Following significant weight loss, excess skin can cause you to continue to be self-conscious about the appearance of your body. A body lift can remove that loose, excess skin, completing your total body makeover.

At Tarrant Plastic Surgery in Fort Worth, TX, Dr. Vishnu Rumalla performs body lift surgery for men. As a board-certified plastic surgery, he can help our male patients achieve a more masculine, defined figure after dramatic weight loss. Whether you lost the weight through bariatric surgery, diet, exercise, or a combination of these weight loss methods, Dr. Rumalla can help you achieve your body contouring goals.

Why Do I Have Loose, Excess Skin after Weight Loss?

Losing significant amounts of weight can be exciting for patients. However, if you lost a lot of weight, your skin may not conform to your new body contours. Instead, patients often have loose, excess skin.

Skin elasticity does vary from person to person. Some patients may be left with more excess skin than others. Typically, older patients will have less skin elasticity, and therefore greater amounts of loose skin.

The length of time that you have had excess fat will also have an impact on the amount of excess skin. Generally, the less time you were overweight, the greater the likelihood that your skin will return to normal.

How Does a Body Lift for Men Work?

Men and women gain weight in different parts of their body. After significant weight loss, men may have sagging skin in specific areas of the body.

Dr. Rumalla can perform a lower body lift to address excess skin that has accumulated in our male patients. The goal is to achieve the best results with the least number of procedures.

Your customized lower body lift will include:

When performing these procedures, Dr. Rumalla will work to help you maintain a masculine appearance.

What Will My Recovery Be Like?

Dr. Rumalla requires that patients stay one night at our surgery center or at an outpatient hospital.

Most patients are able to return to work in 10 days. If your job requires strenuous work, that timeline may be longer.

Dr. Rumalla generally advises patients to avoid heavy lifting for four to six weeks.

You may notice aesthetic improvements within the first week of surgery. It may take up to several months for swelling to completely subside.
