Liposuction is a great procedure for addressing deposits of fat that patients are unable to eliminate with diet or exercise. But many patients also have concerns with skin that has lost its elasticity or areas of the body where cellulite is present. Liposuction alone cannot address these concerns. Fortunately, at Dr. Vishnu Rumalla’s Fort Worth plastic surgery practice, Cellulaze™ can be combined with liposuction or SmartLipo® to treat cellulite. Liposuction and SmartLipo®
Liposuction is often performed to remove excess deposits of fat from the body. Liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses hollow tubes (inserted through small incisions) to suck out excess fat deposits from various areas of the body. In order to maximize the results of liposuction, the skin should be treated as well, which is why, for many of Dr. Rumalla’s patients in Fort Worth, SmartLipo® is performed. SmartLipo® is a procedure that utilizes laser energy, which works with a patient’s natural collagen to tighten the skin. Not only can this maximize the results of liposuction, but SmartLipo® also includes many safety features that actually decrease the risks associated with liposuction treatment. Cellulaze™
Cellulaze™ is another procedure that can be combined with SmartLipo® or liposuction to give Dr. Rumalla’s patients more significant results. Cellulaze™ is a treatment that is made to specifically target cellulite. Cellulite is one of the most common patients complaints and cannot be treated with liposuction alone. Cellulaze™ allows Dr. Rumalla to apply laser energy under the skin in order to produce a smoother contour and reduce the appearance of the dimpling that is associated with cellulite.
In combination with liposuction and/or SmartLipo®, Cellulaze™ can offer patients a drastically improved appearance. Through these procedures, Dr. Rumalla can sculpt areas of the body while tightening and smoothing the skin to reduce the appearance of cellulite. These treatments can successfully be performed on the stomach, arms, thighs, buttocks, and more.
Recovery
Following SmartLipo® and Cellulaze™ procedures, patients will be required to wear compression garments for several weeks. While SmartLipo® does give patients the benefit of a quicker recovery time and reduced side effects, you should expect some bruising and swelling in the weeks after treatment. Because of the swelling, you are likely to see initial results within a week but should not expect to achieve your final results for several weeks or up to a month.
