Microneedling
From scarring to aging skin, it can be hard to know where to start finding treatment for your skin concerns.
Microneedling can tackle multiple skin concerns through one treatment, revealing your best skin yet.
At Tarrant Plastic Surgery, we offer microneedling as one of our non-surgical services at our Fort Worth, Keller, and Southlake TX, offices.
What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling uses tiny needles to make controlled punctures in the skin. While your skin heals from these small wounds, production of collagen and elastin is stimulated, which helps improve the look of concerns like wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone, large pores, and stretch marks. This procedure helps prompt the body's natural healing response into action, leading to smoother and firmer skin for both the face and body.
Benefits of Microneedling
Long-Lasting Results
Collagen production continues for weeks after the procedure, leading to gradual and lasting improvements in skin texture and appearance.
Better Product Absorption
The microchannels created by the needles allow for better absorption of topical skincare products. Get the most out of your skincare with microneedling.
Minimal Downtime
While there might be some mild redness and sensitivity immediately after the procedure, the downtime associated with microneedling is minimal compared to surgical treatments.
Customizable to You
The depth of needle penetration can be adjusted to target specific skin concerns and different areas of the face or body, making the procedure highly versatile for your needs.

Pair Microneedling
With Injectables
Microneedling is a great non-surgical procedure to revitalize your skin. However, it can only do so much. To tackle wrinkles, fine lines, and aging skin further, we recommend you pair your microneedling treatment with injectables like BOTOX® and dermal fillers, both offered at our practice.
Microneedling FAQs
How many microneedling sessions are recommended?
We generally recommend two sessions per area on the body and three sessions for the face to see desired results, though your unique needs may differ. A resting period of one month should occur in between sessions.
Is microneedling the same as at-home dermarolling?
Microneedling and dermarollers both use fine needles to stimulate collagen and improve skin texture. However, professional microneedling offers controlled precision, and offers better results than at-home dermarolling. Additionally, sterile conditions are crucial to prevent infection and ensure safe healing. At-home dermarolling carries a higher risk of infection than professional microneedling treatments at our medical clinic.
Are there side effects with microneedling?
Common, mild side effects of microneedling include temporary redness, swelling, sensitivity, and dryness. These should start to subside within a few days. Minor bruising can also occur. Infection is rare, and this risk is minimized with proper aftercare and professional treatment. Contact us if you notice any signs of infection, peeling, or other severe side effects.
