Minimally Invasive Liposuction - BodyTite
Minimally invasive body contouring has been around for nearly half a century. I perform liposuction several times a week and discuss it virtues and limitations almost daily. The effects of sun, time, gravity, pregnancy, and repeated cycles of weight gain and loss play havoc on the body. Liposuction is a powerful tool in eliminating “hard to get rid of” fat deposits. Liposuction is a surgical procedure where fat deposits are suctioned out through hollow tubes called cannulas using tiny incisions. While revolutionary in the ability to extract fat, only passive skin tightening from the natural contractility of our own collagen and elastin or the garments worn after the procedure was possible. This effect is highly variable depending on the genetics, age, health, prior pregnancy, prior weight gain or loss, and of course the anatomic location being treated. Over the years, several advancements have been made to improve skin contraction at the time of liposuction including using ultrasonic energy, laser energy, and radio-frequency. In general, these energies use different technologies to develop thermal energy or in other words—heat. This thermal energy leads to skin contraction.
The BodyTite and FaceTite system by InMode Aesthetic solutions is an invasive technique that uses radio-frequency energy to improve skin tightening during liposuction. This novel approach places the radio-frequency generator under and deep to the skin. This is unique in comparison to other platforms which currently apply radio-frequency energy to the surface of the skin or into the skin with a series of pins or needles. In addition, the system uses advanced temperature sensors to regulate and monitor both the temperature of the skin and underlying fibro-fascial layers. This allows for more precise control of treatment endpoints to improve contractility while increasing safety. Please see the attached animated videos to see how the technology works.
I usually perform liposuction procedures in our state of the art surgery center in Southlake to maintain a sterile environment to reduce the risk of infection. The procedure can be performed under mild sedation or general anesthesia but in either case, I always have a board certified anesthesiologist for both your safety and comfort. My job is to focus on the artistry of your result, by having an anesthesiologist present we can minimize the risks of complications that can occur with either sedation or general anesthesia. The procedure is usually well-tolerated and most patients will have only minimal discomfort after the first several days likened to a strenuous workout session, and may return to work within days. Patients will often be pleasantly surprised to see dramatic changes within a week, though the final result often takes weeks to months.
So what’s the down side? BodyTite and liposuction is not weight loss. Though patient’s often shed pounds, it is more about body contouring, taking off inches, and improving form and shape Patients having liposuction will need to wear compression garments for several weeks. Patients who undergo liposuction procedures often experience a new found confidence in their new look and balance to their body contour and improved fit of their clothes. Remember, the liposuction result is intimately connected to the experience and skill of your surgeon. The American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons encourage prospective patients to know your surgeons training and qualifications and choose one of their members for your cosmetic surgery needs. As always, the practice offers complimentary cosmetic consultation with Dr. Rumalla where he will spend the quality time it takes to develop a surgical plan that best fits your needs while explaining the risks and benefits of these procedures. Prospective patients will find that liposuction procedures are remarkably affordable and the practice offers many financing options. Make a complimentary consultation to discuss your BodyTite contouring goals.
