Board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery involves
several years of training, specifically in plastic surgery. Over that time,
thousands of hours are spent with academic leaders and professors in
plastic surgery, fine tuning our skills and our surgical arts.
Board certified surgeons of the American Board of Plastic Surgery undergo
an intense and rigorous process. The process includes first completing the
two years of requisite training in specifically, plastic surgery.
Number two, a written examination, number three, peer review of cases that
you have done when you started practice. Fourth, an oral examination and
then five, a long-standing rigorous maintenance of certification, which
includes peer review, testing, and adherence to our code of ethics.
The American Board of Plastic Surgery Code of Ethics may be our single most
important factor when choosing a surgeon. It emphasizes patient directive
care and evidence-based medicine. Make sure you ask your surgeon, is he
board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
